Great friend and agitator of plastic recycling pays visit to one of UPMRA plants you assimilate herself with Plastic recycling science knowledge. Remember no one has ever visited plastic/buveera recycling industries and went back the same.
Recognition sparks
Recognition sparks more efforts, most appreciative to KCCA, UMA and government stake holders’ professionalism exhibited during plastic/kaveera public awareness drives we have so far conducted. Expect more from us 2017. Steady Progress

Its not Crocodiles in the lake, just the normal artist whose aim is to sensitize masses through music Kaveera Crocodile message is Simply clear.
RECYCLE RECYCLE RECYCLE!
2017 Rolling on, we are devoted to continue the struggle on recycling buveera do not litter plastics irresponsibly, drop kaveera in designated dump areas or waste bins for easy delivery to recycling industries.
Watch below: Today trucks carrying buveera waste arrive to a recycling plant in kampala from Kamuli, Mbarara, Mbale among others.
Europe: Parts of solid waste where plastics are 4% are either insenerated or recycled.
Due to it’s good practices generally, Europe remains a one stop center for jobs worldwide. Locals there don’t lack jobs like us in Uganda and Africa at large but rather it’s all other backward directed countries that seek jobs including worst jobs indescribable.
The act of enhancing recycling industries to rid off Plastic dangers in the environment has floated jobs for natives and those who lack them from Africa.
WARNING: I READ EAST AFRICA NEWSPAPER PAGE 5 DATE 14-20 JAN 2017.
EALA Parliament must first consult the line stake holders in the plastic industries before they draw deductions. Since 2007, consultative meetings put resolutions and solutions that industries are practicing/implementing. Since it’s a regional issue advise any leader in EALA, consultation of the string of right people and institutions before they resolve misfiringly will aid smart decisions. Tanzania has no total ban but a 50 micronage recommendation.
Rwandan EALA MP,Hon Patricia Hajabakiga introduced this on floor of the regional parliament, but she is definately misleading the countries which already have enormous industrial establishment. RWANDA banned plastics at the time they never had serious industries but just juakali ones.
UGANDA has a good Case over many African countries as it’s the only country recycling these Plastic bags enormously. Aligning it to Kenya and Tanzania where souls of investors only produce sale and no recycle, will be a lamentable step. But in both countries, investors can be encouraged to develop Plastic recycling lines along their wide industrial establishments.
EALA, consult consult consult to draw better/practical solutions. By Moses Brown Ategeka (Madiba) Communications Uganda Plastics Manufacturers And Recycling Industries(UPMRA).
Watch a Europe documentary on Plastic use and solutions.
Sorting at source system is a must practice.
Ugandans can learn to manage plastics and avoid the evil of reckless litter of all plastics. My Son shocked me this morning after I found out he had created two garbage bags at home, one for general waste and another one for all recyclable buveera. Well waste collectors have been collecting them several times and selling kaveera to the common collectors around kireka and Namugongo. This is excellent of my boy. He says he has heard me promote the system on local TV stations. I have encouraged him to continue the practice as it shapes him into a responsible citizen and even teach it to his mates at school.
Collection and recycling is the way forward let us not dupe the public with dubious, reckless mechanisms inappropriate to established world system the 3Rs.
THE EAST AFRICA NEWSPAPER IS A LEAD IN THE REGION AND RELIABLE
UPMRA officials were shocked by a misrepresentation of facts, underestimation and wrong figure projection about the enormous chores of Recycling industries in Uganda a week ago.
NOTE: After South Africa, Uganda is one of top most countries fantastically executing Plastic Recycling in Africa through the global provision of 3Rs (Reduce-Reuse-Recycle)
GOOD ENOUGH, The E.A Newspaper’ team took some hours off their busy schedule to visit one of the lead Recycling industries in Uganda. The team nodded in awe of what Uganda is already doing by collecting buveera through a large number of poor jobless Ugandans, statistics on economic empowerment through taxes and how pretty the environment was being rid of the plastic menace. Looking at bi-products
Out of kaveera recycling, reporters could not conceal a disappointment over leaders who want craft laws without making necessary consultations.
Like the whole world, science is the Rule, Europe, Canada and others have of late quadrupled the job scale for citizens and immigrants through a largely advocated 3Rs system. Uganda beats many countries in Africa including those in East Africa since half of industrial set up is enormously recycling Buveera and other plastics ie 20 plants out of total 40.
NB. Plastic is beyond buveera. All plastics are a menace starting from non Wooven Bags (colored supermarket bags) to Jericans and bottle packages. We must recycle all plastics without fail. Selfish seekers only look at buveera and forget other dangerous plastics. Lets think smart with Recycling.

UPMRA officials in Kigali, Rwanda for EALA week on legislative matters.
The main visit and submission to EALA MPs in Kigali was to help backtrack the one sided polythene Control Bill,an act that destroys industrial status in the region. The Bill has been highly criticized by not only industrial scholars but also the environmental activists who have respect for initiation of vastly growing 3Rs around the world.
OUR EFFORTS (UMA with Sali Goddie, UPMRA ATM Brown,KACITA With Issa Kizito, Plasto/Pipeline chief, Naim Sabra) were paid off. Our aim was to seek further consultations with most affected people. It worked well, right now the Bill has been pushed on to seek more consultation
East Africa business council ascertains the status of kaveera/plastic recycling in Uganda.
EABC ED LILIAN AWINJA led the team from Arusha Sacretariat to the country’s leading plastic Recycling facility the Pipeline Industries in Luzira Kampala. The team was physically overwhelmed by the progress of Kaveera Recycling stressing that, It’s enough to say ‘ALL INDUSTRIES MUST RECYCLE!
In this it implies, all Industries that don’t recycle will be headed for exit for polluting the environment without an effort to control the damage.
EABC is in support of the polutter Taxation also known as green levy for all kaveera/plastic Industries.
Uganda is second to South Africa on the level of Recycling status in Africa. Chief founder Uganda Plastic Manufacturers and Recyclers Association (UPMRA) Sabra moderated the EABC Team.
EABC team has recently rejected the polythene Bill drafting sighting irregularities and inapplicable sections and thereby requesting EALA to give more time to the Bill and highly involve the private sector for better amendments.
PUBLIC AWARENESS: At Makerere AgricExpo, Kaveera does not litter, people do!

Our environment officer Nicholas Kiiza and other UPMRA staff are there to demonstrate to you about the amazing scientific 3Rs that are used worldwide to control plastic menaces in the environment.
School students, campusers, environment, leaders and agricultural experts took enough time at the Upmra stall as they learnt the deeper science and mechanism about plastic recycling.
Recycling is an organised system that helps to retrieve all sorts of plastic from the environment for recycling into other useful products by local industries.
Today there are over 600000 Ugandans directly involved in plastic manufacture and Recycling chain.
Public awareness is being spearheaded by UPMRA members as a cooperate social responsibility mandate, this will help masses to realize the need to tap into plastic benefits other than dwelling on dangers yet with established scientific solutions in place.
Applause goes to everyone that took time to learn about this science of plastic recycling and having acknowledged as away forward.

Gayaza high school students embrace polythene/plastic science at makerere university.
The trade fare at Makerere campus finally drew to an end with students and learners from various institutions take a keen interest in mastering the recycling technology science for all plastics especially kaveera.
The amazing art and crafted products as seen in pics below out of kaveera was spot by students as a most interesting as other testified to having not known recycling methodology in controlling against kaveera and plastic in the environment.
FACT: UG has over 45 plastic industries out of which 25 are engaged in mass plastic recycling. These industries have partly contributed to national economy, job production and supportive to the largely needed value addition chain.

We Walked in and out of the region, all corners that had been infiltrated by the high degree falsehood about our recycling facilities by a section of people purportedly the enemies of development, more so failures of good environmental strategies.
We did our part to disclose the rightful facts and preached the recommended global initiatives that non of us can down play.

How safe are Non wooven and paper bags to the Environment?
Ofcourse not since the dangers in the environment are more pronounced Globally. They are non recyclable compared to kaveera which is 100% recyclable. On one hand Non wooven bags(colored bags in supermarkets today) use bio oil or plastic raw material just as Kaveera. They take over 100 years to degrade in soil according to American Research Chemistry.
On another hand paper bags use trees/forests as raw materials, promoting them in a country is a direct deforestation.Paper bags use excessive energy consumption during production.

This is why littering buveera and other plastics is an offence. One can be arrested up to 6 months in jail plus a fine if found out recklessly littering.

Why do you buy most expensive Pirelli tyres? How helpful are they?
This was during a live interview inside Urban TV studios. AtM Upmra Plastics Responds the recycling way, “Sure our tasks in kaveera recycling are extended to a large part of Uganda. We do public awareness over responsible plastic littering, we mobilise masses and those willing to earn from kaveera/POLYTHENE collection for recycling.
Such long distance drives up country require strong quality tyres that would not easily erode us off the road. Our Senior, Naim Sabra loves quality too.
Only Pirelli tyre can move over a sharp nail with piercing through the tyre, so we got some trust over there.” AtM responded.
Kitante primary school wins recycler’s heart over sorting at source system.
It’s simply an exemplary school in Kamwokya a Kampala suburb. The school is neighbours to Diplomatic missions such as Rwanda Embassy and British High Commission.
The impeccables around this school would let you into believing it’s the St Mary’s kisuubi, Namilyango, Kings College Buddo arena alas it’s the famous Kitante under KCCA management.
Overall view is they practice the core principals of solid Waste management something Plastic /polythene recycling industries in Uganda has always advocated for.
Sorting at source is more important in managing General solid waste.
In Europe and elsewhere, glass, papers, plastic pet bottles, food stuff and polythenes are separated in respective litter bins for easy access by recyclers. Uganda needs a sorting at source system which will lead to more desired green jobs and other benefits.

It’s rwanda polythenes and on the country’s celebrated venture Rwanda Air
Note: This cloth as I hold it on Rwanda air, is not the only form of plastic career bag (kaveera) inside Rwanda. It’s a non wooven bag which also exhibits dangerous threats to environment. These non wooven plastic bags are different coloured in many supermarkets in Uganda. One fact is environmentalists who rival kaveera industries after being compromised by Competitors, their hands oiled by bribes or because they are poor researchers, have promoted non wooven bags as cotton bags yet they are a bio oil product, Same raw material that produces Kaveera/polythenes, produces Non wooven bags in this plane. On my flight, I have been wondering whether Rwandas concocted ban thrives on research or propaganda.I have top scholars /scientist who say Rwanda will one day choke from these kind of plastics because all Recyclering investors don’t want to go there.
Rwanda has all forms plastic kaveera evidenced at their country’s dumping site on Nduba plateau. So its plastic recycling investors and environment cleaner policies. These stories must end because it misleads the public. That plastic bag cannot degrade in soil for over 150 years.

Tanzania! Kaveera ban cannot work here-locals emphasize.
“Environmentalists have tried several times to ban it but failed.Cant you see it all over the street?? ” A man along Mnanzi Mooja road told UPMRA official in Dar es Salaam.

Save Your Kidney! Being on a study tour of plastics In East Africa Region brings me another great notion of life.
Sharing Ideas beyond our fields is a greatly deserved attitude In society.
On several occasions I noticed coconuts beans extracted from Zanzibar Palm trees on streets beyond Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam Borders en streets.
On 3rd night after my dinner, I saw Indians lining up for the beans,A poor old man would peel them give an Indian at a time to drink from the large bean.I wondered what a hell it was meant for these Indians lining up before a poorly dressed up Mzee before a dirty bike.
I took an effort to ask,”What are these guys drinking from the crazy beans?” Majii! another ice cream vendor explains along the street.
One day in Kampala I tried a very dry coconut bean in Kampala from Garden City, the content in there was milky ,with an unappealing taste.
Alas, this bean on Streets of Zanzibar and beyond in Dar es Salaam, is typically fresh, chilly, with light non milky water substance, it really heals your soul on galloping it.
“Are you Ugandan?” An inquisitive Muyindi asked me. “No am East African residing in Uganda. I answered to his excitement.
“Why do you guys line up before this coconut vendor?” I asked Muyindi Man.
“He smiled before telling me,’its good for the Fiigo(swahili) to mean Kidney. In a video interview, old man says the water cleans the kidney deeply well.
Industrial war being fronted by Nema to mushroom one industry over another won’t help! Science and recycling is the only solution here!
UPMRA has today made it clear to National Environment Management Authority to stop going to public and unleash poisonous falsy allegations over UPMRA establishments should just pick 450 Billion and compensate the industries, then think of closing them down. UPMRA’s Communication director, AtM Brown made it clear in today’s press briefing held at operational chambers in Kololo, Kampala.
Ridiculously, NEMA is banning 45 industries and paving way for 2 plants as kaveera non wooven bags which are plastic in nature and non recyclable at all.Government will loose 45 plants 65,000 jobs, billions of taxes and the fastest growing plastic recycling technologies here on the soil.Above all this economical hurting move, NEMA must prepare shs 450 Billion shillings to pay to investors as compensation.
